The CFM® is a professional certification for accountants and financial professionals in business. Achieving the CFM demonstrates expertise in financial management and professional ethics. Criteria to earn the credential: • Pass the CFM exam • Have two continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university • Maintain membership in IMA • Abide by the IMA's Statement of Ethical Professional Practice To maintain the CFM credential, active IMA membership and 30 hours of continuing professional education are required annually. (Note: the CFM exam is no longer offered, but IMA still maintains the credential for those who are certified as CFMs.)
