Many conventional primary production methods contribute at least 20% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Such unsustainable farming practices damage soil health and reduce our capacity to grow food. The risks to global stability are high and potentially impactful. However, sustainable agriculture methods can contribute to soil regeneration, reduce emissions and have the additional benefit of transferring atmospheric carbon to the soil at the same time. Sustainable agriculture provides a better environment to feed our growing population the nutritious food it requires, and contribute to a healthy and productive society. It is time to assist our natural systems rather than trying to replace them.
