Welcome to AIMD Sigonella Italy, the intermediate maintenance activity for the NAVEU-NAVAF theater!Our team excels in its task of providing maintenance and repair services of aeronautical components and support equipment to naval forces throughout the African, European, and southwest Asian regions. If you have orders to this NATO base in the province of Catania, Sicily, we will be happy to assist you in every possible way to become familiar with your new residence and workplace. For starters, you will be assigned a sponsor and you will be encouraged to dialogue with him or her regarding any plans and questions you may have concerning your transfer or your integration into the Sigonella community.AIMD Sigonella is a wonderful place to work situated on the NAS 2 where the airfield is located. NAS 1 is located a short distance away and is where most of the social and shopping facilities are located. The Italian people are very warm and welcoming of American military. The American presence is of such a size that we can enjoy a true sense of community here while still being able to expand social circles to include an international feel. The opportunities for developing Italian and other European friendships are, of course, limitless! With a beautiful live volcano, Mount Etna, overlooking orange groves and olive trees, and with a mild Mediterranean climate, we enjoy a location with which only a few other places on earth can compare. Sicily – her sensual beauty, her bounty of fresh foods, and her history of people throughout the ages are all available for you to explore and discover.
