The CGIAR Generation Challenge Programme (GCP) is a nonprofit global crop research partnership promoting modern crop breeding for food security. We host the Integrated Breeding Platform for information, informatics tools and services for crop breeding.MISSION: Using genetic diversity and advanced plant science to improve crops for greater food security in the developing world.DESCRIPTIONIn line with its mission, by 2014, GCP is expected to have contributed to the following objectives:1) Provide access to and promote the use of genetic diversity in plant improvement programmes.2) Develop a public platform of genetic and genomic resources and tools, and support a global community that can use them.3) Generate and apply knowledge across crops, and demonstrate the potential of comparative genomics to impact plant improvement programmes.4) Use genetic diversity and advanced science to develop products for plant breeding programmes to improve the livelihoods of resource-poor farmers in marginal, drought-prone environments.See our introductory video here: http://bit.ly/Yp4EJx
