Challenge Cup, the tough brother of the Champagne Lobster and Oyster Race The Challenge Cup is a long-distance event and consists of 2 courses; from the Netherlands to Lowestoft on the east coast of England and back to IJmuiden. The distance to be sailed is about 100 to 120 miles per route, which amounts to a real performance tour because depending on the ship, crew, team spirit and wind, almost a double 24 hour race is sailed. We challenge freshwater sailors to find the saltwater and to really have no land in sight anymore, encouraging sailors who have never crossed to England before to take this step and to take the open sea. The North Sea naturally provides the necessary surprises, even for the most experienced competitive sailors. That is why it is also called "The Challenge Cup". Skippers who conquer the North Sea for the first time can win a special prize: "The Maiden Trophy". And there are First-Liner Awards for both routes. There is a separate tour class for unmeasured yachts, so that we can give everyone the opportunity to participate in this event, provided your boat meets the safety regulations. That makes sense… Because of the inseparable combination of a serious competition, great prizes and the enormous fun, and all that in 4 days ... The Challenge Cup also belongs on your competition calendar! We look forward to welcoming you at the start!
