Food Production - Bar-sur-Seine, Grand Est, France
The Champagne House of Devaux belongs to the history of Champagne, dating right back to the 19th century. Founded in 1846 by the brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, it was taken over by Madame Augusta Devaux, one of Champagne's great characters who ran their companies with as much energy as skill. The step forward that she had initiated led to the company being renamed Maison Veuve A. Devaux on her death. In 1986 her descendants, keen to perpetuate her prestigious name, entrusted it to a group of Champagne producers. Today the House of Veuve A. Devaux is found in the magnificent setting of the Manor at the Domaine de Villeneuve now restored to its former glory and splendour.
