Character.org is a nonprofit organization that works with schools, districts and organizations to develop a culture where young people thrive both academically and ethically. We provide the tools, methods and strategies that educators, parents, community members and workplaces need to create caring and productive environments. Mission: Providing leadership and advocacy for character in schools, families, communities and workplaces throughout the world. Vision: Young people everywhere who are educated, inspired and empowered to be ethical and engaged citizens. Character.org offers an evidence-based framework for implementing and evaluating character education through our 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. We use this model across all of our programs and resources because of its success in schools across the country. Our Schools of Character and Promising Practices programs utilize the 11 Principles to evaluate a school or classroom's climate and character initiatives. Those that demonstrate mastery of the 11 Principles through a rigorous application and evaluation are designated as State/National Schools of Character and Promising Practices to be honored and serve as mentors to others. For those who want a more in-depth understanding of the 11 Principles, we offer Professional Development including in-school multi-day, full-day, half-day trainings and webinars. Our most valuable professional development is our annual National Forum on Character Education that brings together 800 educators, researchers and community leaders to join the conversation on character. Character.org serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and resources. We offer a network of individuals, schools and organizations through our Membership program. Members receive access to special resources and also serve to inspire and encourage each other. Learn more: www.character.org/membership
