Henkels Architects is an office with diverse and extensive experience in commercial, residential, institutional and interior design projects, including sustainable design for all building types.With over 40 years of experience, Henkels Architects has brought an expertise to diverse and specialized architectural projects ranging from new buildings to renovations. After working with the firms of Edward Durell Stone Associates, Stephen B. Jacobs and Associates, and RGBK he established his own practice in 1990. The quality of the work has been recognized by 25 design awards.Architectural experience is balanced between the architecture of new buildings and interventions to existing structures. An historical perspective defines a vision that there are certain universal design principles that form the basis for architecture, and both classicism and modernism are expressions of the same underlying principles. Specialized projects include fashion showrooms, veterinary clinics, custom residences, and corporate offices. Experience includes extensive knowledge in the preservation of landmark buildings, and adaptive reuse of old mills, loft and institutional buildings including documentation for over 30 historic preservation tax credit projects.
