Charlies Animal Rescue Centre – CARE was started in January 2013 by a group of animal lovers who felt that Bangalore city was in dire need of an animal shelter where stray and abandoned animals could be housed, given timely medical aid, rehabilitated and rehomed. The inspiration behind the Trust is Charlie, a 10-year-old 3 legged Indian dog who is a therapy dog and who has been doing amazing work with specially-abled children in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy since 2005.\\The Trust was formed with 3 Trustees who have years of experience in the field of animal welfare. The Trust was registered on 18.1.2013. The Trust also enjoys Income Tax Exemption u/s 80G of the Income-tax Act vide Order no. DIT(E)BLR/80G/G-39/AABTC4700C/ITO(E)-1/Vol.2013-14/MANUAL dated 14.6.2013.\\The task of setting up an Animal Shelter, accessible to the people of Bangalore city was a big challenge and in this direction, we have taken up a piece of land on rent measuring approximately half an acre at Survey no.19/1, Jakkur Village, Yelahanka Hobli for the purpose of the Animal Rescue Centre. The Shelter is now functional.\\The founder of the NGO Ms. Sudha Narayanan is also the recipient of the CJ Memorial Community Community Guardian Award.
