Charlottesville Community Bikes is a nonprofit bicycle shop that operates through Virginia Organizing (VO) to promote environmentally-sound transportation, recycle bicycles, and make cycling accessible in Charlottesville, VA.What we do:- Provide free bikes to adults in need through our Voucher Bike Program- Provide free bikes 24" or under to kids 12 and under- Serve as an educational facility to empower patrons to service and maintain their own bikes.-Refurbish bikes for affordable bikes for all-Bicycle repairs and classes-Host volunteers-Advocate for improved bike and pedestrian infrastructureOur Impact:In 2020, in spite of the pandemic, we were able to:- Give away over 200 bikes to adults in need- Give away over 600 bikes to kids 12 and under- Refurbish an additional 450 bikes as affordable bikes for the community- Host bike-repair clinics- Host volunteers at a safe social distance
