Mission Founded in 2007, the mission of the Chicago Housing Initiative (CHI) is to amplify the power of low-income Chicago residents to preserve and expand subsidized rental housing, promote community stabilization, and advance racial and economic inclusion and equity. General Information The Chicago Housing Initiative is an alliance of subsidized-housing tenants who are organizing through eight community-based organizations and over 60 HUD properties in the Chicago area. Together we fight to improve living conditions, preserve low-income rental housing, and promote tenant ownership and control.
