Political Organization - Chicago, Illinois, United States
Chicago Votes is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, that educates and engages young Chicagoans, primarily from underrepresented communities. Our leadership development programs provide youth with the civic knowledge and hands-on experience they need to make a lasting impact on Chicago's democracy. This is accomplished through voter education, voter activation (GOTV) and voter registration with an emphasis on leadership training. We have established ourselves as a recognized civic organization with the support of our fiscal sponsor, The Bus Federation Civic Fund, which offers one of the nation's leading models for youth engagement.\\By creating pathways to engagement for a diverse generation of Chicagoans, we have helped young leaders build a stronger democracy with increased participation and greater ownership over the political process. Our organizer training programs are known for their innovative, empowering and in-depth approach in which organizers learn to canvass, phone bank, lobby, pass legislation, organize direct actions, hold forums, work the "inside game" and hold large scale press conferences. \\Chicago Votes' Successes:\Passed three bills for Early, Online and permanent precinct wide Same-Day Voter Registration.
