Civic & Social Organization - Beirut, Beirut Governorate, Lebanon
The Child and Mother welfare association is a charity organization based in Beirut. The association paved the way for Lebanese charities as it expanded and survived through some of Lebanon's toughest days. The Child and Mother welfare association's goal is to raise the standard of living of the Lebanese family by offering health, social, vocational and cultural services.Founded in 1944 by an all-female board, the association led the way in women empowerment. At a time where the Lebanese society was wary of females joining the workforce, the women behind the association were true pioneers. By providing occupational training and job opportunities to women, the association was raising the health and social status of people with limited income through:• Inclusive care for the whole family from children to elderly people.• Assist Lebanese families through health, social, educational and developmental projects. In order to achieve these goals, this group of women was able, with determination and faith, to develop the association from a small primary health care dispensary to an organization that prides itself with three buildings that host its divisions involved in the health, social and developmental livelihood of the Lebanese people.Through time, the number of women increased committing themselves as well to this cause. With the hard work of its all-female members, the association today includes a healthcare complex, the Sarah Daouk Center for Family and Social Services, an exemplary nursery, The Early Diagnosis and Intervention Center for People with Special Needs, Dar Al Karama nursing home for the elderly, the Craft Sewing Center, Vocational and Cultural Training Centers and an Auditorium. The association is constantly advancing its services and raising funds to ensure that the entire society lives a decent and carefree life.
