Our mission is to end preventable blindness in children. Our purpose is to help children to see well and have good vision for life, and to prevent the #1 cause of vision loss among children, amblyopia. We are advocates for vision screening in children to detect silent disease before it steals sight and we are promoters of protecting young eyes from injuries. We promise to empower parents with information to help you be wise about your child's eyes. We also fund life changing research as well as physician and patient education programs. No child should have their sight impaired when early detection and treatment makes vision loss preventable. That is why we work hand in hand with the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). With over 1,600 pediatric ophthalmologists, AAPOS is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality medical and surgical eye care worldwide for children and for adults with strabismus.
