The mission of the Children's Healthcare Advancement Foundation is to improve healthcare quality and access for children and their families by increasing parents' access to support and transporting children out of the hospital with virtual reality. We create welcoming hospital environments that engage children, while enabling an optimal experience that makes healthcare treatment less intimidating and stressful for children, but rather more pleasant by facilitating the benevolent sociable care of volunteers and the benefits of modern technology.We developed a virtual reality program to free children from the hospital, where they can be stuck for days on end. We combine VR with real-world educational activities including artistic creation, where participants create physical crafts out of paper or clay to take with them back home or to their rooms in the hospital.We bring interventions to children through education that is mentally stimulating and fun to create a learning atmosphere that fosters self awareness and growth towards reduction of illness and discomfort by way of self-care.
