Chiltern Training Group was formed in 1993 by Challney High School for Boys. It is a consortium of approximately 50 primary, secondary and special schools in Luton, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The CTG maintains very close links with Luton Local Authority where most of the partnership schools are located. The central team is based at Challney High School for Boys which is a designated Teaching School and featured in Ofsted's 2009 publication, Twelve outstanding secondary schools – excelling against the odds. The team forms part of the Chiltern Teaching School Alliance, which is the training and standards arm of the Chiltern Learning Trust (a Multi-Academy Trust). All CLT schools prioritise the CTG as their preferred provider for Initial Teacher Training. We believe the best place to train teachers is in schools. We want;our students to have the best teachersour partnership schools to have a talented pool of staffour trainees to be future leaders of educationThrough our Partnership schools we have access to an incredible range of different settings. Trainees work with a network of committed staff with both subject and teaching expertise. To date, CTG has trained around 1600 teachers. The majority have remained in the Luton area and have made rapid progress into Senior Leadership roles. Many of our Alumni are keen to work with us as mentors, subject coordinators and professional tutors.
