We're reinstating the iconic Christ Church Cathedral & bringing life back to the heart of Christchurch.The Anglican Cathedral was built for the Glory of God and for all people. It is being reinstated for us and for future generations. Celebrating Christchurch city's heritage and offering a spiritual home for Anglicans, the Christ Church Cathedral will consist of a reinstated stone cathedral and bell tower with a warm and inviting visitors' centre, cafe and public spaces.We look forward to mid-2027 when the doors will once again be open to all. The project is being managed by Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited, which has two equal shareholders - Church Property Trustees, which owns the Cathedral on behalf of the Christchurch Anglican Diocese and is chaired by the Bishop, and Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Trust, an independent trust established by the Crown to raise the anticipated shortfall in funding and oversee the use of public funds.
