The New York Christian Times is one of the New York tri-state region's largest Black-owned weekly newspapers, and the only one with a direct distribution to over 4,000 Black churches in the five boroughs of New York City. First published in June of 1990, the Christian Times grew from monthly and bi-weekly to eventually becoming a weekly with an estimated readership of 280,000 and a distribution of 58,000copies. The Christian Times was also a frequent Sunday insert in both the New York Daily News and New York Newsday. Through the innovative leadership of Rev. Dennis Dillon, the publication has been a leader and trailblazer in New York's Black community and has worked with variouscorporations and institutions on diverse community projects.
