CIETAC is also one of the major permanent international arbitration institutions, independently and impartially resolving economic and trade disputes by means of arbitration. CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center is CIETAC's first branch outside mainland China. The role of CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center is to promote arbitration services as one of the dispute resolution options for interested parties. It bears the role and responsibility as a sub-commission of CIETAC stipulated in CIETAC Arbitration Rules to settle disputes closer to where they took place. According to the existing CIETAC Arbitration Rules, at present, CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center mainly receives the cases whose the arbitration agreement signed as "arbitration in CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center" or "arbitration in CIETAC Hong Kong" or "arbitration in CIETAC in Hong Kong".
