The Center for Research & Development in Automotive Mechatronics (CIMA) is a multidisciplinary group of researchers with the experience, knowledge and infrastructure necessary to provide the Mexican industry with Advisory Services, Applied Research, Technological Development and Training in areas directly or indirectly related to Automotive Engineering. The CIMA was created as a direct consequence of the Cathedra in Automotive Instrumentation started in August 2003.The CIMA, was established in August 2004 and is currently constituted by a multidisciplinary group of 12 professors and 19 research assistants dedicated to solve the technological development and research needs of the Automotive Industry in Mexico, to increase its competitiveness in a sustainable manner, develop resources and establishing mutually beneficial relationships between the Tecnológico de Monterrey and the automotive industry.The scientific contribution of CIMA is represented in the realisation of more than 100 research and technological development projects financed by companies and government institutions in Mexico, Spain, France, Colombia and Ecuador, the publication of more than 75 articles in indexed journals, the application for 10 patents, of which 2 were already granted, the training of more than 85 young researchers at the master's degree level and 10 at the doctoral level.The social contribution of the CIMA is represented in the support to the companies and government entities to which the CIMA has given them support, solving the technological problems that these have posed. The results obtained have strengthened the companies, generated more and better jobs and also generated new business opportunities.
