CIMPOGEST, one of the first Mozambican owned consulting firms post-independence, was established in 1997 to assist government, development agencies and the private sector to develop the economy. The partners have hands-on experience in a range of sectors, and have more than 60 years combined experience in the Mozambique business environment. Since the 1920's the family group of companies has had extensive business presence in Mozambique. Activities included manufacturing (tobacco, dairy products, plastics, bottle crowns for the beverage industry and dry yeast) hospitality, and real estate. Driven by its activities across range of sectors the company has extensive expertise in strategic and financial planning, equity investment and project appraisal which it deploys in the service of clients and investors. CIMPOGEST has access to private equity funds and venture capital which can be leveraged to refinance Mozambican firms to grow post the COVID-19 pandemic. Examples of focal sectors include food, healthcare, tourism, manufacturing and other sectors with high growth prospects. In line with the changing economy CIMPOGEST also focuses these competencies on the development of the emerging sectors of LNG and natural resources to benefit clients, the economy, and the community. The goal is pragmatic and enduring solutions to clients' challenges.CIMPOGEST undertook a multi-stage consultancy with Mozambique National Oil Company (ENH- Empresa Nacional de Hydrocarbonetos) by providing assistance and capacity building across a range of activities such as project management, strategic planning, commercial and financial re-structuring, legal advice, liquidity issues, as well as counselling to senior management. CIMPOGEST has partnered with SPEED+ a US$ 40 million USAID funded program. The firm's role was the provision of consultancy expertise in the development of power policy, including the revision of the national electricity law.
