Pesaro is a city and Comune in the Italian Region of Marche, capital of the Province of Pesaro e Urbino, on the Adriatic Sea. Its population is 94.969, making it the second most populous city of Marche, after Ancona. Pesaro was dubbed "Città della Bicicletta" by Italian environmentalist association Legambiente in recognition of its extensive network of bicycle paths and promotion of cycling. It is also known as "Città della Musica" as it is the birthplace of the composer Gioachino Rossini. The City of Pesaro is also part of various important international network such as UNESCO Creative Cities Network, EUROCITIES, Snapshots From The Borders (project co-funded by the European Union - EuropeAid DEAR budget line) and BTIN (Border Towns and Islands Network).
