City On is a digital discovery platform dedicated to everything going on in Auckland right now. It is a mix of curated and user generated content to inspire and connect locals and visitors with the great city of Auckland and unlock its hidden gems. Users can share and receive live, on-location information about events, transport, and local tips to help them make better decisions while out and about. Founder Andy Higgs spent three years working within ATEED developing a corporate partnership strategy for the city, which led him to further develop this initiative with Trans-Tasman connected city experts OAMM. With a desire to make Auckland one of the most connected, smart cities in the world, Higgs set about creating a service that would address the information gap between the public and community groups, promoters, hospitality industry, Council organisations, and tourism providers. "There is so much happening in this city it is easy to miss the good stuff. City On gives people a place to promote their Auckland activities and share their experiences, while helping the city work better for everyone," says Higgs. "Aucklanders are justifiably proud of our city. The time is right to showcase Auckland, as it's happening, and who better to tell the story than our own people."
