Civil Engineering Graduate Student Association Details
The Civil Engineering Graduate Student Association (CEGSA) represents more than 300 graduate students in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. The purpose of the association is to represent the civil engineering graduate student body to other groups and to sponsor events of common interest to the membership. Past activities have included free barbeques in the summer, pool and pub nights, coffee breaks, movie nights, and sporting events such as the Toronto Raptors and Blue Jays.CEGSA engages in the affairs of the Department of Civil Engineering by meeting regularly with the Chair and by selecting representatives for the departmental committees that make decisions affecting graduate education. These include the Academic Planning Committee and the Academic Appeals Committee. The association also holds three seats on the Council of the UofT Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU), which debates issues of interest to the entire graduate community of the University of Toronto.
