Grown out of MIT and Harvard University, our team has extensive research experience from various urban technology and design projects between the two leading universities and other global industry actors. We aim to shape the urban environment leveraging expertise and knowledge in holistic design, cutting-edge technologies, and context-specific public policy analysis. The Latin word "Civis" is the word for citizen and root word for "city." CIVIS is characterized by a human-centric and omni-disciplinary approach that provides a common ground for designers, planners, scientists, and engineers to work and collaborate. The mission of CIVIS is to innovate in the urban environment through design and science and to respond to changes in a fastly evolving technological and cultural global context.As an independent leader of projects or subcontractors or a collaborator with industry partners, we build upon trust with our clients and partners to provide design solutions, strategic advisement and analysis, and execution that create value long after the completion of our work. We operate across scales and fields - from digital product design to architectural design, smart city strategies to economic development advisement. As unconventional and creative thinkers, we smartly synthesize our own experience and external consultancy to get all operations to move forward.
