Back in 1982, before the introduction of casual Fridays into our vernacular, Claudio Vazquez, our president and founder was an international college student trying to earn some extra money. Coming from Argentina, a culture steeped in the traditions of leather craftsmanship, he had the insight to begin importing bags during his holiday visits back home. Operating out of his dorm room, Clava was born and Claudio began selling bags to classmates. Fast forward a couple decades – add Claudio's wife (also head designer), her best friend and their dogs into the mix. For more than a decade, this has been the office and headquarters of Clava. A glimpse into Clava today reveals a very different picture from that college dorm room. With over 1000 skus, thousands of happy customers and millions of bags sold. What hasn't changed is our business model. Clava continues to realize growth and success with a wide selection of merchandise and price points all backed by our guarantee. Who we are is a story in progress. Our journey is mapped season to season by new materials, designs and the ever changing needs of our customers. What hasn't changed is the youthful, creative energy that continues to drive our operation. Weekly staff meetings will continue in jeans, with a hot cup of espresso with steamed milk and dogs under the table… CLAVA – bags and accessories made by people just like you… whoever you may be! Clava's mission statement, from the beginning, was to provide customers with the best bags and accessories at the best possible value - incorporating fashion and function. We have always and will continue to stand behind our products. Clava also prides itself on superior customer service and educated staff.
