Arts and Crafts - Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Clay Play began in 2001 when our co-founders Daryl and Janet had a shared vision of empowering children creatively. Their 30-year friendship and complementary skill-set was a firm foundation for what is now a combined team of almost 20 staff enabling work in 30+ schools with over 1000 learners throughout the Northern and Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. VISION: We build confidence through creating. MISSION: To provide a nurturing, engaging environment for students and staff to understand their value and be empowered through clay handwork skills to grow in confidence as both individuals and creators. Clay Play offers pre-primary and primary school learners an opportunity to create projects relevant to their age and interest. It is a unique and personal experience for each individual. Basic clay handwork skills are taught and original Clay Play songs and stories support the creative experience. Our clay classes consolidate learning whilst stimulating development, in a fun interactive way. Clay is a wonderful 3-D medium that guarantees success. We aim to create an environment which nurtures creative, cognitive, emotional, and physical development. Through our unique methods of teaching pottery processes, we enable our learners in creative-thought and problem-solving. Each lesson is used to fashion a special clay creation which is fired, glazed and returned.
