OUR STORY. CLC Partners was established by Scott Cohen, a former attorney at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York, who relocated to Panama more than a decade ago. Conducting business in Latin America, it became evident that the relationship between U.S. and Latin American local counsel is plagued by inefficiencies due to dissimilar expectations, work style, practice specialization, implications of civil law vs. common law, language, cultural barriers, amongst others. CLC Partners began as a response to requests of colleagues at U.S. law firms for assistance in Panama – and rapidly evolved and expanded to meet demand for coverage on cross-border transactions throughout Latin America.
