In 2019 we decided to utilise our combined experiences of prisons and rehabilitation to benefit Teesside and North Yorkshire. We decided it was time to tap into a vastly underrated talent pool; that of people with a past conviction. Our vision was to create a network of social value driven employers that would give us opportunity when the time was right to advocate candidates without prejudice into paid employment.Why is our work so important?• Re-offending rates in the UK are at record levels• 56% of adults are reconvicted within one year of release• There are 50% more people in prison than there was 25 years ago• The cost of all this to the UK is approximately £15bn per year• Just 17% of offenders have employment within 12 months of their releaseOur stats effective of September 2021: 147 referrals; with 124 paid employment opportunities being provided and a further 17 people into further education.As of September 2021, have just a 4% reoffending rate within 12 months engagement with us.
