Since 1988, it has been one of the leading centres in dental implant treatment. In 1995, we developed a combined digital radiology and imaging system, putting together one of the first digital orthopantomographs in Spain. In 1997, our centre was one of the first in the country to apply microsurgical techniques, installing two complete microsurgical machines. In 2000, the clinics in our group became the first dental clinics nationwide to develop and obtain the standard UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2000 for quality management systems. Over the 2003-2005 period, we worked as pioneers in computer-guided surgery, being the only centre in Spain at the time to have installed three different and complementary protocols. In 2006, Clínica Sicilia incorporates an i-Cat scanner in its facilities and becomes therefore the first Spanish dental clinic equipped with a maxillofacial computerized tomography system. One year later, in December 2007, Clínica Sicilia takes again the lead in Spain with state-of-the-art surgical techniques, installing the RoboDent® protocol, a novel computer-guided surgical technique with a robotized navigation system. Finally, in 2010, we have moved to our new 900m2 facility in the heart of Oviedo, where we will keep working to continue as a benchmark centre for periodontal microsurgery and implantology in Europe.
