Clothes for Change is a student-led, nonprofit organization that works to empower women and girls to create positive change in their communities through local fashion fundraisers and social awareness events. It began as a vision to promote gender equality and give voice to young women through a business-charity model in which we collect high-end, new and gently used women's and girls' clothing and resell the items at discounted prices. With the proceeds from our business, we are able to support organizations that advocate for girls' education, work to prevent sex-trafficking, and help women pursue economic independence through microfinance initiatives. Over the course of the last five years, our consignment sales have expanded into an online shop, social media networks, and partnerships with North Carolina businesses as well as non-profit organizations around the world. Today, more than 50 young women are a part of our club at school and hundreds more participate in the Charlotte community and around the country.
