Civic & Social Organization - San Francisco, California, United States
CNSC's mission statement is to provide underserved communities with social, economic, workforce, and business services to transform their lives. CNSC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been the premier provider of essential transitional support services for new immigrants since 1969. CNSC's multilingual information and referral services include housing, health, food, victim support, free tax filing/consulting, financial literacy, consumer disputes, elderly, and low-income assistance. Our latest job readiness program helps immigrant job seekers with little or no English/computer skills/experience with essential job readiness workshops: mock interviews, basic computer classes, ESL for job seekers, online job search, image grooming, social skills, job recruitment, and entry level job placements. CNSC has helped more than 1,500 people with their job search and/or job placement that gave them a start in working in America despite their lack of English or training. Our free tax assistance programs served over 2,000 low-income families and helped taxpayers recover almost $2 million in total tax refunds. Our annual holiday food distribution feeds over 5,000 needy individuals. We are proud to announce our latest program--KEEP CHINATOWN CLEAN--which keeps the streets of Chinatown clean while providing temporary jobs/job training for local low-income residents.
