More than 40 percent of middle school students in Massachusetts don't have access to after-school programs. We are on a mission to implement teacher-led school improvement initiatives during after-school times to close the achievement gap. We use after-school time to compliment school day learning. We (re)design how schools use after-school time to support all students. Our school partners tailor our program model to meet their goals. We recruit and train local college and high school students to lead hands on projects and physical activity for middle school students after school under the guidance of licensed teachers.To date, we have served 2,184 middle school students, created 612 college and high school apprenticeships, and seen an 83% increase in attendance, 88% reduction in disciplinary referrals, and 70% student growth in reading and literacy.
