Coastal Seminar was created to provide quality continuing education seminars in Manual Therapy Essentials (MTE). Co-created by seasoned physical and manual therapists Ellen Helinski and Jared Van Der Beek, Manual Therapy Essentials is a method of deconstructing and re-inventing manual therapy. Our goal is to simplify and empower by moving away from structured techniques and replacing them with a skillful process of assessment and treatment based on anatomy, palpation, presence and critical thinking. We hope we have found a way to pass on our passion for manual therapy and impart the true art and essence of healing without bogging you down with techniques that limit, intimidate and overwhelm. This material has evolved from Jared and Ellen's extensive training and experience in an array of manual therapies including myofascial release, muscle energy, positional release, cranial therapy, visceral manipulation, somatic body work and more. By breaking down and combining not only the diagnostic and treatment techniques associated with these approaches but also the thought paradigms and concepts on which these works were built, Jared and Ellen have developed a unique and simple system of manual therapy that focuses on the application of the principles of manual therapy diagnostics and treatment within a broad, multi-system understanding of the human body and how it works.
