Coastwise was founded nearly two decades ago by captain/owners Eelko Wijdieks and Douwe van den Berg after having gained years of experience on board low air draft sea/river vessels, multipurpose vessels, container ships and transportation of various types of cargo.Soon thereafter, their combined knowledge and energy resulted in the delivery of 2 new build, ice classed, multipurpose vessels. Coastwise input in the design and engineering of these vessels resulted in a series of 19 vessels for the shipyard, a design that is still popular in the market today.With these new vessels Coastwise gained more experience in the Short Sea Market. The ships under Coastwise management are operated by both owners, who till sail as master.As of August 2020, Onno Nienhuis from the small fishing village of Zoutkamp strengthen Coastwise Offshore Services B.V. as managing partner. Onno has strong maritime ties and is an experienced entrepreneur and investor, active in fishing, real estate and ship finance. He also has an extensive relevant network. Our activities include crew transfer vessels and services for Offshore Wind, Vessel Management and Crewing Services. Coastwise owns a fleet of crew tenders and manages a multi-purpose cargo ship. Coastwise Offshore focuses mainly on Renewables and Oil & Gas industry, in compliance with the highest safety and industry standards. Coastwise Shipping provides operational, technical and commercial management to captain/owners, shipping companies, brokers and charterers.Based on traditional captain/owner values, Coastwise delivers high-quality and cost-effective services with an open and no-nonsense approach.Our company name reflects the roots of our enterprise; starting out with shipping, expanding to crewing and offshore.
