Like all businesses do, Coated and Engraved started out of necessity. The option to buy high quality laser engraved gifts in small or large quantities, quickly and easily didn't really exist. There are plenty of laser hobbyists on Etsy and big job shops that can sometimes handle the small stuff, but Brian and Caitlin Wright struggled to find something for the in between when they were planning their wedding in 2018. Because Brian already owned and operated a business that offered very specific laser engraving, all they had to do was purchase product to engrave for their bridal party and they were able to do it themselves. After realizing that there just wasn't much outside of Etsy for the laser engraved gift space, Brian and Caitlin started to brainstorm how they would both handle working full time and get a little side hustle going to help improve the options out there for high quality gifts.
