I bought my dog Coco 10 years ago from an Aquarium in Toowoomba. I had her for 2 weeks, someone broke into my house and stole her. After many posters, news ads, radio shoutouts and 2.5 weeks, I got my Coco back PHEW!A few years later I had moved to Brisbane. I came home from work one day and Coco was gone without a trace. So out came the posters, facebook posts, news ads and more but no luck this time. Just under two years later I got a call from the Noosa RSPCA Shelter to let me know that someone had brought her in after seeing her wandering around a park. Naturally, I raced as quickly as possible to the shelter and was reunited with my long lost pooch! I was very thankful for her microchipWe have always wondered what she got up to, how she got there and who had her. Truth is we will never really know, but I used to jokingly make up stories of what she got up to and who she met. And so began my Coco Tales adventure/project to create a kids book series about my loco Coco. This adventure has led to becoming apart of the RSPCA's ambassador/furbassador program, public speaking about the importance of microchipping/responsible pet ownership, a dog Instagram account with over 13 500 followers and a whole lot more. It has been a weird and fun ride! The first book is how she gets out of her yard, finds a friend and starts her own adventure, she writes postcards home and is just a loveable cute character. Book 1 is currently on pre-order and will be on sale in mid October. We now live in Melbourne and have been in Richmond for 2.5 years and so far no disappearing acts from Coco. You can find us going for 5.30am walks, brunch and heading to the beach when it is warm. Coco is always for a pat and cuddle so if you see us come say hey!@coco_tales on Instagramhttps://www.rspcaqld.org.au/how-you-can-help/ambassadors/furbassadors/coco
