Education/Training - N/A, N/A, N/A
Co-Learn exists to support, engage and connect families who are co-learning, homeschooling, or unschooling. We help students and parents transition into co-learning, as well as those veteran homeschool parents ready for new ways to build their learning networks and personalize their children's education. What is co-learning? Co-learning is an emerging word that describes the way in which curious, engaged families provide learning experiences for their children outside of school. It is a "distributed teaching and learning system," to use the words of James Paul Gee. The use of "co" alongside "learning" speaks to the social nature of learning. We use the phrase colearning to contrast from stereotypes related to homeschooling or unschooling. Colearning families actively try to nurture academic and non-academic interests in their children, invest in supplemental instruction, cultivate both specialized expertise and broad learning, create and manage positive social connections, and consistently access and even plan and lead learning opportunities in their local communities.
