The Colomi Iron Project, is situated in the municipalities of Sento Sé, Casa Nova and Remanso in Bahia State, northern Brazil, 520km northwest of the state capital, Salvador.Mine: Development of the Colomi South deposits on the south side of Sobradinho Lake is the initial priority with target production of 25Mtpa. The mine will produce a high grade iron ore concentrate using standard beneficiation methods. Initial mine life is 20 years. Development of the Colomi North deposits on the northern side of Sobradinho Lake will comprise Stage Two of the project (>20 years @ 25Mtpa). This stage will utilise the Colomi South logistics and/or infrastructure options to the north.Railway: The concentrate will be transported from mine to port via a 172km spur line connecting to the existing Ferrovia Centro Atlántica (FCA) railroad at a point south of Juazeiro and then on to Aratu Port. The terrain over the course of the journey is mainly flat with sparse vegetation.Port: Colomi has developed plans for facilities at the port of Aratu including stockyard, deep-water berth and shiploader, capable of loading Capesize vessels.
