Colorful Dreams is a nonprofit agency 501(c) (3) providing mentoring programs for middle and high school youth in the greater New Orleans Louisiana area. The program will form partnerships with local school districts and the juvenile court system.Youth are matched with a caring adult volunteer who is trained to focus on positive reinforcement, trust-building, and the achievement of goals, by engaging youth in one-on-one outing and group adventures in the community. Mentors and youth agree to meet for between 10-15 hours per month for a full year.Colorful Dreams offers four distinct mentoring programs:- Program 1: is the central program of Colorful Dreams. At risk middle school students and their mentors participate in a structured program of support.- Program 2: Program 2 focuses on students who are chronically suspended from middle and high schools.- Program 3: Program 3 engages youth involved in the juvenile court system.- Program 4: Program 4 works with children from local elementary schools.The services will be 100% free to those who qualify.Colorful Dreams' goal is to foster a commitment to young people that promotes pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future.Personal relationships create a sense of individual responsibility. This individual responsibility gives youth the commitment to follow through on a path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
