Civic & Social Organization - Columbia, South Carolina, United States
Welcome to Columbia First Church of the Nazarene. We are a historic church, and often historic churches have a tendency to be... historic! Yet, we are a vibrant and growing faith community positioned strategically to reach the midlands for Christ. First Church was organized in 1934 in the Granby Village of Columbia. We began on Tobacco Street, before petitioning to have the street name changed to Catabawa. Out of the old mill district the congregation moved to new facilities in the developing area of St. Andrews during the 1970s. The church has long been characterized by love and warmth, with services defined by vibrant music and strong Bible preaching. Because of sustained growth, the congregation is in its third building since coming to this site. Yet this is not the end of the story... We believe our best days are ahead of us, as we continually listen to the Lord's voice calling us into a good future. In this future we continue to have a place for the up and out and the down and out.
