History: The Community Habilitation Center (CHC) was organized in the early 1970's due to the efforts of a small group of parents of children with developmental disabilities. CHC continues this purpose today by providing an array of support, programs and activities to adults with developmental disabilities. It is important to note that 40 years after its incorporation, CHC Inc. is still serving many of its original clients. Purpose: Since its founding, CHC has broadened its programs and activities and amassed an enviable reputation throughout South Florida. The purpose of all CHC services is to offer support, guidance and encouragement to adults with developmental disabilities regarding their personal choices, abilities, growth and ultimately, independence. We provide individuals with programs designed to help them learn skills in order for them to lead meaningful and productive lives, explore their potential and develop a sense of community.
