Our community hubs are all in Scotland's poorest, most deprived small neighbourhoods and housing estates. Our staff and volunteers engage with local residents by door knocking, home visits and in our community hubs. It starts with a cup of tea and getting to know someone, building trust. Our staff really listen to what people want in their lives, whatever it is. We then stick with people, whatever it takes. Deep down people know what they need in their lives and in their communities, they need help to achieve this themselves. Community work is undertaken to tackle environmental and social problems that contribute to stress, ill-health and low morale in the neighbourhood. This is part of our holistic approach.We work alongside and in partnership with funders and commissioners, public bodies and organisations appointed to deliver public services to encourage the embedding of a community development approach to addressing social issues.
