Community Roots China (CRC) no longer operates in China. It was established in 2011 by Marie-Lucie Spoke, a Canadian who lived in Shanghai from 2006 until 2018. CRC championed corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to build bridges between remote Chinese communities and corporations operating in China. CRC provided corporations with impactful charitable programs and the training and assistance to implement them. CRC also provided individuals with the opportunity to be part of the implementation.CRC's focus areas were: The One Heart gift bags, Educational Sponsorship and the Bookworm program, which provided age-appropriate books to rural schools.
