Legal/Attorney - , ,
A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting racial and economic justice within the pretrial process of the criminal justice system. The Connecticut Bail Fund will post bail for individuals who are held in jail on low-level charges and who lack the financial resources to afford their bond payments. Because bail payments are returned to the payer after the defendant has appeared in court, the Fund will operate on a revolving basis, continually recouping and reinvesting its money. After posting bail, the Fund will also connect its clients to a range of necessary support services. In addition to providing direct services, the Fund will perform research on pretrial detention and advocate for humane alternatives to wealth-based jailing.
