Healthcare Facility/Healthcare Services - Corning, NY, US
The Corning Community YMCA exists to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The Corning YMCA offers membership to the community, regardless of their ability to pay through our scholarship program. The Y is the nation's leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. We do this through our programs and services such as Preschool, swim lessons, summer day camp, youth sports programs, and adult recreation leagues, to name a few.The Corning Community YMCA has existed in the Corning-Painted Post community starting in the late 1800's. The Corning YMCA originally operated out of a building on the corner of Cedar and Market Streets. In the early 1900's the Corning YMCA ceased operations but was later reborn in 1966 by a group from the First Methodist Church of Corning. The new YMCA operated out of many sites until finally finding it's home in 1977 at 127 Centerway with the donation of the New York State Armory, a gift from Corning Glass Works Company.More information about the Corning Community YMCA can be found at www.CorningYMCA.org.
