Coronation Travel was founded back in 2007 after owner Kim Monteith had numerous requests from friends and clients in the travel business who wanted to visit the actual sets of Coronation Street. Kim had been in the travel industry since 1988, and group travel was her specialty.She started trying in 1999 to get permission from Granada Studios to bring a group of Canadian's onto the sets, but Granada/ITV had closed the sets to the public that year...and still have. After several years of trying, Kim managed to secure a relationship with an ITV manager, and in 2003 took the first group of Canadians on a 7 day tour of England with the highlight being a visit to the working sets of Coronation Street. The next year we were invited back, and were surprised by having one of the actors come and meet our group. Each successive year we have run one, and sometimes two tours, all to the UK with the highlight being a visit to the current working sets. After leaving the retail travel world, Kim decided to open up her own small travel/tour company exclusively for the tours to Coronation Street, and in 2007, Coronation Travel was born. Each year the tours offer a slightly different itinerary, but have become so popular with die -hard Coronation Street fans across Canada, many of our clients come back year after year to take part in our tour and travel with friends they have met on previous tours. For the past 6 years, we have been very fortunate to have Neville MacKay from My Mother's Bloomers in Halifax as our tour host. Neville's quick wit and caring charm have endeared him to all, and he will be back with us again for our Septemebr 2018 tour, as will our tour manager Marilyn Parker MacKay from the UK. They make a dynamite team, and our partners at Special Travel International in Vancouver, work very closely with us to make certain we have a smooth running, quality tour that leaves folks wanting to come back for more !
