Food Production - Swan Reach, South Australia, Australia
The Costa family has been growing produce on the Adelaide Plains since the 1940s, a young Don Costa first setting up a 5-acre patch of almonds at the back of his Angle Vale property. By the 70's Don had pioneered mechanical harvesting and utilised a new style irrigation system to increase his almond yields remarkably. It wasn't long until he'd established his very own commercial almond processing facility.Once Don introduced his three sons Tony, Phillip and Michael to the business, they increased both orchard plantings and cracking facilities, expanding their business to the Swan Reach area near the River Murray.
