College/University - Covington, KY, US
Covington Classical Academy is Northern Kentucky's only independent, private high school. Our Classical Liberal Arts Curriculum returns to the basics; students study four years of Math, Latin, English, History/Social Studies and Science. They will also study the arts and oratory. This focus on the fundamentals helps students build critical thinking. Other unique elements about our school include:EARLY ENTRY - CCA allows curious students who have graduated fifth, sixth, or seventh grade an opportunity for early entry into high school. The traditional education system bases curriculum content on age and not on ability or interest. Because of this method, many students in middle school are ready for a high school education but are held back and feel left out or behind. As a part of CCA, your student will be learning with like-minded peers who match them in ability and motivation.FIFTH DAY - On most Fridays we have a special, all day program we call Fifth Day. Fifth Day activities fall into four categories: Physical Activity, STEM, Arts & Humanities, and Service. Faculty members lead the activities, sharing their passion with the students and modeling the traits of lifelong learning.Fifth Year - After graduation, students will either enter college, study abroad for a year with a partnering program, or enroll in CCA's one-year Fifth Year. Our Fifth Year program provides four days of experiential learning and one day of academics, exactly the inverse of their high school experience. Our Fifth Day coordinators will find internships and service opportunities that match a student's interests for Monday through Thursday, while offering a college-level seminar class on a topic of their choice on Friday.
