From our Founder: "I'm your florist. I care about how long your flowers last, where they come from, who harvests them, how they're preserved, the waste associated, so that you don't have to. I go out of my way to make sure you're not only getting the best quality, but that your carbon footprint isn't bigger than it needs to be. I use biodegradable cleansers, I never use floral foam, I wrap your bouquets in compostable paper, I buy local, I dry my overstock to be reused in winter, I use recycled newspapers for transport packing, I use zero preservatives, I do garden & farm walkthroughs to ask the questions most won't ask (do you use pesticides, are these roses salmon-safe, who do you hire, how are they treated?).Why do I do all of this? Why does it matter? Because the international floral industry has one of the largest agricultural carbon footprints. From Dutch hot-houses to jets full of roses sent from Ecuador, unnecessary waste is astronomical and plain silly when considering what is available locally. The Pacific Northwest is packed with family-owned farms that painstakingly select the best varieties and cultivate them year-round in the hopes to provide the best products to their customers. When you buy from me, you're not just supporting a small sustainable woman-owned business, you're supporting an entire network of them. From Peterkort Roses in Hillsboro, to Indigo Gardens in East Portland, to Small Yard Flowers in St.Johns, to Elevine Floral in Canby... there is more than enough local farms to provide breath-taking, artful floral arrangements year-round.
